Data loss on a saved server

It’s about data which is saved in a centralized way, that’s to say it is on wotan, horus, vali, embla, garm… servers. In case of data robbery or loss, you have to send an email to the IT platform with:

• the server name
• the access way
• the date

The necessary will be done to recover this data, but it’s a long process (several hours).

Be careful because saves are done every nights and aren’t done in real time. Moreover, failure could happen in the backup system or a tape could be unreadable.

Data loss on a local computer

The data on local computer aren’t saved on the central system.

It’s under the user responsibility to take appropriated measure to protect against eventually loss.

In problem cases there is tool to recover deleted data. But none are 100% reliable. If it doesn’t work contact the IT platform as soon as possible and stop using the concerned computer.

Email loss

Like indicated in the email management presentation, the outgoing emails are duplicated in an encrypted backup file. In case of email loss, it’s possible to recover by asking the IT platform with following informations: concerned user and email arrival date. All the emails at this date for the concerned user will be put in its mail box. [1]
